June 15, 2022, White Knight Hotel Saint Anne Manila – One of the main sources of our high percentage of dollar entry into our country is the remittances that come from the people who work hard to work abroad for their families.
The question is… They have been called the new heroes of the country, but have they been cared for and appreciated as “heroes”?
These distressed OFWS, people who work hard, have taken time to successfully establish the “DEPARTMENT OF OFWs”, with the help and assistance of President Adviser Atty. Abdullah Mama-O, who was appointed by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte as the 1st Secretary of the Department of Migrant Worker on March 15 up to present.
So what are the reasons for this migrant workers to appeal president-elect Bong Bong Marcos to reconsider in replacing Atty. Abdullah Mama-o, the current secretary of department? His success rate, in the following: diplomatic negotiations, humanitarian missions, and along with his expertise helped a majority of migrant workers in the Middle East.
With the announcement that Toots Ople will be replacing Atty. Mama-o, they immediately requested an audience with BBM. “15 minutes is all the time we are requesting from him”. said Ken Bautista, VP for Unified Migrant Workers Global to discuss issues affecting their sector in the country.

The past two years have been extremely challenging for business owners and local communities alike. The initial lockdowns and movement control orders had resulted in a chokehold on businesses. Many businesses had in fact folded up due to the lack of customers, supply chain issues or simply because the cashflow dried up.
As we slowly and surely rise above the pandemic, and business owners are starting to come to terms with doing business in the new normal, BNI Philippines is poised to help businesses accelerate their recovery. As part of a global organization, in fact as part of the World’s Largest Business Referral Organization serving 300,000+ businesses in 74+ countries, BNI Philippines is able to bring local Filipino business to the international markets as well as bringing in business to local markets.
New business and leadership skills are needed to navigate through the new business environment. With 37 years of history and continual growth year on year, BNI has the experience and knowledge on how to provide what is needed by businesses in challenging times. In fact, BNI has our own “BNI University”, providing our members with thousands of hours of learning, workshops and courses from the leading business leaders and thought leaders from around the world.
Running a business as a small to medium business owner is often challenging, due to resource constraints, financial or otherwise. BNI Philippines helps business owners overcome this constraint by providing a platform for business owners to cooperate and collaborate. Being part of a positive and supportive community ensures that no-one struggles alone or being left behind.
We are excited to be hosting the virtual (online) BNI Philippines National Conference on May 26th & 27th, 2022. The theme for the conference is “BNI Better Together: Positively Impacting Business Communities” to reflect BNI Philippine’s goals to support local business communities on an accelerated business recovery path. Of course, true to our Filipino culture, the event will be filled with entertainment, awards, gala festival and lots of fun activities.
The Filipino Bloggers Network (FBN), one of the most active Philippine-Based community of bloggers and influencers in the country, held its 10th Annual Christmas Party virtually last December 12.
FBN currently has almost 2,000 members around the country and continues to expand as it provides a venue for Filipino bloggers to interact with other members even those based overseas. Moderating the discussions and posting opportunities from several brands are co-admins Divine RC and Richard Mamuyac and Lariza Garcia.
The yearly event serves as a venue to reacquaint with fellow members around the country, celebrate the holiday season and create great new memories.
Just like last year, the gathering was conducted online and livestreamed within the official FBN group page. Aside from the exciting prizes given away during the virtual games and raffle draws, a couple of members received financial assistance to support them in their family medical emergency. Indeed, it was both a fun-filled and meaningful day at the same time.
Different PR groups and brands and individual sponsors were acknowledged during the event for supporting the online community in 2021 and hopefully for more years to come.
This year’s virtual event is made possible by the following generous donors: PR Partnerss – CAT PR, i55 Talent Hose, Page One, M2.0 Communications, Comm&Sense, ROAR Agile, GPS TV, BIOCOCO, Full Circle, Pro Communications Inc. Pro Solutions ,Full Circle and Ripple 8.Brand and Individual sponsors – Pacific Sunrise, Goodah!, Cebuana Llhuillier, Glorious Blend, Rex Education, Gur Lavi Corporation (Telavi); Dyna Drug Corporation, Diana Stalder, Sagada Harvest, Stevia Natural Sweetener, a number of fellow FBN members and public servants like Rep. Eric Yap of ACT-CIS partylist, Rep. Joey Salceda (2nd District of Albay), Rep. Edgar Mary Sarmiento (1st District of Samar). Rep. Mike Defensor of Anakalusugan partylist, General Guillermo Eleazar, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte and Deputy Commissioner Randy Escolango of the Philippine Insurance Commission.
With the great support and opportunities that FBN received this year from partners companies and brands, the group is looking forward to more campaigns and activities that members can join and engage with in the coming new year.
Let us claim that 2022 will be a better year for all of us. Cheers for more success and blessings!

The COVID-19 pandemic did not prove to be a barrier to excellence in this year’s submissions to the Asia Young Designer 2020 (AYDA2020) competition. If anything, it may have even helped the students in coming up with innovative and empathic designs.
The theme for this year is FORWARD: HUMAN-CENTRED DESIGN. It reflects the need for designers to provide practical and socially-conscious design solutions for a rapidly growing population in a globalized world. It encourages our students to create designs that transcend beauty – designs that also respond and empathize with the needs of the humans the spaces are being designed for.
More than 400 entries were received this year and so many designs were so inspiring that our judges had such difficulty trimming them down. After reviewing all the boards and design statements and much discussion, they were able to choose the top 10 in Architecture and Interior Design.
AYDA2020 Panel of Judges

It’s a personal project of Ann Purificacion who is an advocate of helping small, medium, and big businesses. This annual event started as Ready Set Blog last 2016 in KL Tower Residences as a small gathering to connect bloggers.
Two years later in 2018, in partnership with Selah Garden Hotel, Ready Set Blog 2.0 was conducted. Participants learned more about improving blogs, SEO overview, phone photography, and a lot more.
AVP Bloggers Party 2019 held at Plantation Bar in Makati created another buzz as new emerging bloggers joined the event. International and local brands also introduced their products. 2021, Pandemic changed the way we do blogging but through the help of our sponsors and official venue partner, Selah Garden Hotel, a safe and fun mini-event was held.
Brands get to introduce or discuss more about their products to all influencers/bloggers and come up with new stories to share with their readers. AVP Bloggers Party is set for bigger things to come. AVP Bloggers Party 2021 wouldn’t be possible without the following sponsors:

Lamudi, the leading online property platform in the Philippines, welcomes top real estate developer Avida Land on the real estate platform. The partnership aims to tap a wider audience for Avida Land through a better online presence.
Partners in Making Dream Homes a Reality
Lamudi’s platform lists Avida Land’s properties online, opening the developer to millions of pageviews monthly and hundreds of thousands of leads. Ayala Land’s mid-range brand can promote its products to a wider audience, even those based abroad.
Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) are among the strongest markets of Avida Land. Lamudi’s data suggests that overseas interest in Philippine properties remain strong despite the pandemic. The US (47.23%), the Middle East (18.28%), Canada (12.05%), England (9.57%), Australia (9.93%), and Japan (2.93%) accounted for most of the overseas pageviews on Lamudi during the first half of 2019, with the regions maintaining their positions in the first half of 2020. As the developer helps migrant workers build dream homes, Lamudi enables the market to find it.
Buyers can choose among properties listed based on their unique lifestyle needs, location and aesthetic preferences, and budget. From house and lot developments to lot-only projects, condominium units, and even pre-selling units, OFWs will find a range of Avida Land offerings on the Lamudi platform.
Avida Land’s Aldea Grove Estates, Avida Towers Ardane, and Serin East Tagaytay are all available for inquiries on Lamudi.
The developer’s first residential project in Angeles City, Aldea Grove Estates is a 16-hectare community close to the city’s urban center and major roads. Avida Towers Ardane, on the other hand, is the second condominium project in South Park District—Avida’s first large scale, masterplanned, mixed-use development in Alabang, offering lifestyle essentials to residents. For dwellers who are looking to embrace the comfortable, vacation lifestyle, Avida Land’s Serin East Tagaytay is the perfect residence.
Lamudi likewise hosts the top-notch communities Avida Settings Batangas, Avida Towers Atria, and Avida Towers Riala. A family-friendly neighborhood, Avida Settings Batangas is filled with recreational amenities, making it ideal for raising kids. Meanwhile, professionals can find a comfortable home in Avida Towers Atria and Riala since both developments are at the heart of regional centers Iloilo City and Cebu City, respectively.
In this set-up, buyers can start house hunting without ever leaving or flying back home. Aside from the convenience, this increases their safety amid the current crisis.
With important details about Avida Land properties available on the platform, buyers can compare homes easily based on unit dimensions, number of bedrooms, and amenity inclusions. As they filter options, they speed up their search for the ideal home.
Lamudi provides Avida Land with an official partner badge on their developer page, easing the worries of property buyers who are keen on starting business transactions online. Through and through, the digital channel upholds the safety, security, and convenience Avida Land also promotes.
A Lifestyle of Being Ready for More
Aside from broader reach, Avida Land can showcase their brand on the Lamudi platform. Lamudi helps the developer showcase high-quality pictures and videos, as well as location maps and landmarks, to aid property seekers in envisioning what it’s like living in a space built by the Ayala Land subsidiary—all from the safety and security of their homes.
More than the 360 virtual tour experience, future residents can expect the best quality in the actual residence developed by a brand that champions inspiring and socially responsible lifestyle choices. For its 30th anniversary, Avida Land has once again partnered with local social enterprises Rags2Riches and Messy Bessy for an exclusive line of merchandise, with the objective of spreading awareness and support for community artisans and marginalized youth.
In line with shared aspirations for a better future, these partnerships reinforce one of Avida’s core thrusts, sustainability, as it expands its footprint nationwide: Rags2Riches and Messy Bessy promote sustainability not only with the materials that they use, but with their relationship with the communities that they support, in the same way that Avida has always developed sustainable communities and maintained a simple and seamless customer experience for its residents.
Moving into Avida Land communities, homeowners can feel the warmth of a Filipino home and embrace a ready-for-more lifestyle, taking on the 24/7 grind, milestone celebrations, and passion discoveries.
The Digital, New Norm
Lauding Avida Land’s move to the digital space, Lamudi supports the developer in celebrating its anniversary campaign Homepossible: Ready for More.
Part of the festivities were virtual learning sessions headed by Mr. Rex Mendoza, President and CEO of Rampver Financials. The talks centered on the real estate investments, helping property buyers make sound decisions in the midst of an uncertain future.
Participants were able to learn leasing, flipping, and reselling strategies useful for expanding business portfolios. There were also discussions about the new normal of real estate standards and living experience.
On October 24, Avida Land launched its designer living spaces by Gussy Design online. Through the 360 Showroom, property buyers can engage in virtual tours of the homes.
A fundraising virtual concert, meanwhile, will happen on October 30, featuring the Manila Symphony Orchestra.
A Powerhouse Partnership
Lamudi’s partnership with Avida Land shows two companies with an excellent reputation and proven track record coming together to continue the digitalization of the real estate industry. The real estate developer has won various awards through the years in Lamudi’s The Outlook: Philippine Buyers’ Choice Property Awards. Back in 2017, Avida Settings Cavite earned the title Best Affordable Housing Development.
In 2018, Avida Towers Asten took the spotlight as the Best Premium Condo of the Year in Luzon for Trust and Reputation of Developer.

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – The technology and commerce platform Zilingo Philippines has announced Shiela Mauricio as its new Country Manager. In her position, Mauricio will spearhead Zilingo’s continued business operations, strategy execution, and drive profitability, growth for it’s Philippines chapter.
Shiela Mauricio was one of the very first employees at Zilingo Philippines joining in 2018 and leading the company’s growth and expansion fronts in the country. With her hands-on approach in managing end-to-end operations, Mauricio brings forth over 25 years of business development and sales experience to Zilingo.
“I’m happy and thrilled to be working with the young and diverse minds of Zilingo Philippines. I believe that the company has a lot of potential in the country, especially in the B2B sector. I take this huge opportunity as a means to contribute my experience and add value to Zilingo’s impressive growth trajectory and grow alongside in the process. I would like to sincerely thank our CEO, Ankiti Bose (Zilingo) for entrusting me with this immense responsibility and encouraging the way for women in leadership positions,” said Mauricio, who was previously the Head of Commercial for the ZPH.
In her prior position at Zilingo, Mauricio led to the execution of sales strategy in the Philippines, and on-boarded numerous big clients like Silver Kingdom, Havaianas, Plains and Prints, and Avel Bacudio’s exclusive Athleisure line in partnership with Filipino prime actor, Alden Richards.

Jane Camus Knof has pageant blood running in her veins. Her paternal aunt, Evelyn Camus, who won Binibining Pilipinas-International in 1971, placed 2nd runner-up in the Miss International finals. True to her blood she placed 2nd runner-up in the Mrs. Abu Dhabi pageant in 1997.
She, however, joined the pageant circuit not for the glamour but for its charitable causes. That’s why her title as Mrs. Noble Advocacy Queen 2019 couldn’t be more apt. Born in Maasin, Southern Leyte where she finished her elementary years, she and her family moved to Metro Manila where she grew up and continued her studies. She attended the Far Eastern University and the MMC where she obtained her medical technology degree. Even at a young age, and from a family of means, she is fondly remembered as somebody who shares whatever things she has, especially food. And the habit stayed on.
As the reigning Mrs. Model Mom Universe (MMMU), Jane is a charitable person and willing helps, quietly, most of the time – a virtue at the very core of the pageant organization’s platform. MMMU believes there is beauty in helping people. “I believe in a platform that helps others in need,” shared the 53-year-old mother of four. I was born in Maasin, Southern Leyte and finished my elementary in Cebu City and moved to Manila. As a continuing gesture, Jane is extending her generosity to the Badiang Elementary School in Maasin, Southern Leyte, where her mom used to teach.
Married to John Knof, a retired aircraft engineer, the couple live in Clearwater, Florida, home to North America’s most beautiful beachfronts. Jane has been invited to be part of pageant jurors in Dubai, Bahrain, Missouri and Kansas in the USA, as well as the Philippines. A nurse, medical technologist, and cellulite therapist by profession, Jane is the second appointed titleholder to wear the MMMU crown. She follows the footsteps of Malaysian queen Claire See who blazed a beautiful trail in 2019. The next MMMU local and international pageants will unfold in the last quarter of 2021.
Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, Jane frequently visits the country. She’s here every two months or so. “I want to be remembered as someone who gives a helping hand, even without a beauty title to speak of,” Jane said at the close of our overseas phone call.
